If you had to ask any soccer player around, they’d probably say the most used skill in the game is passing. That’s true because if you know how to play the ball after receiving it (not just simply receiving it), then you’ve basically just mastered the game. Every simple play boils down to a pass, any way you look at it…but it’s not that simple, or we’d all be professionals. Someone still has to do all of the running in between those passes.
Read below before watching the video. You’ll get better ideas of what I’m talking about, then you’ll put the ideas together when you see it in action.
Soccer’s all about decision making. You can make the right moves, you can make waiting moves, or you can make the wrong moves.
The right moves include creating chances, taking open shots, and capitalizing on offense. Waiting moves include passing the ball around, because you’re waiting(italics) for a hole to open up for a right move. But make the wrong moves – like mindlessly giving away possession or getting beat on defense – and you most certainly will get scored on.
Make the opponent believe they’re making the right moves when they’re really making the wrong ones, and the game’s basically yours.
There’s two sets of skills: necessary skills which you use often, and extra skills that you use when you least expect it. Ideally, we’d work on all of them if we just had the time! Sometimes it’s hard to tell if a technique we’re practicing belongs in one category or the other. Are picking the right skills to work on just based on luck? Nope. Just use a heuristic process.
What came first, the action or the idea? Whether one comes before the other depends on how far you are in development, and can play a huge role in how fast you attain success. It can be the difference between obstructed overthinking and improved awareness.
If you’re looking to where you want to go, you’ll be focused on that point. Everything around it is blurred and sort of irrelevant. This applies to vision in both the literal (eyesight) and mental (dream) sense. Combining the two literally leads to living your dream. Yes, I am claiming 100% that this post goes over why, when, and how to make your dreams a reality.
